How Lumana is redefining AI’s role in video surveillance

Image
For all the progress in artificial intelligence , most video security systems still fail at recognising context in real-world conditions. The majority of cameras can capture real-time footage, but struggle to interpret it. This is a problem turning into a growing concern for smart city designers , manufacturers and schools, each of which may depend on AI to keep people and property safe. Lumana , an AI video surveillance company, believes the fault in these systems lies deep in the foundations of how they are built. “Traditional video platforms were created decades ago to record footage, not interpret it,” said Jordan Shou , Lumana’s Vice President of Marketing. “Adding AI on top of outdated infrastructure is like putting a smart chip in a rotary phone . It might function, but it will never be truly intelligent or reliable enough to understand what’s being captured or help teams make smarter real-time decisions.” Big consequences When traditional video security systems layer AI ...

How AI is changing the way we travel

Image
AI is transforming the way people plan and experience travel. From curated videos on Instagram Reels to booking engines that build entire itineraries in seconds, AI is becoming a powerful force in how journeys are imagined, booked, and lived. But this shift raises an important question: is AI giving travellers more freedom, or quietly steering their choices? In a wide-ranging conversation, he explained how AI is transforming travel discovery, personalisation, cultural exchange, and ethics—and why the industry must set clear guardrails as technology takes on a more active role. AI as a travel companion AI is changing how people discover destinations. Instead of generic travel lists, platforms now serve content that feels personal. “AI has turned travel discovery into a personal canvas.” Platforms like Instagram Reels no longer just show ‘where to go’; they curate journeys that feel tailor-made for each traveller.” This shift is not just about convenience. By highlighting lesser-...

Amazon says India's e-commerce exports cross $20 billion, despite US tariffs

Image
On Monday said it has helped Indian sellers surpass $20 billion in total exports, including nearly $7 billion this year, as small operators work to offset the impact of new U.S. import tariffs that were imposed in August. The company said it remained confident in its long-term growth and set a new target of reaching $80 billion in exports by 2030, driven by rising global demand for cosmetics , toys , furniture and apparel . Thousands of  Indian artisans  and small businesses were affected after the U.S. doubled tariffs on certain goods to 50% starting on August 27. The tariffs were a response to India's purchases of Russian oil . Amazon executives said the broader export impact remained limited. "We focus on controllable inputs, not short-term trade headwinds,” said Srinidhi Kalvapudi, the head of Amazon Global Selling India , in an interview. "Our long-term story is structural, not cyclical - and for e-commerce exports, it’s still day one.” Amazon’s Global Selli...

OpenAI’s Sora 2 Found To Generate False Claim Videos most of the Time

Image
New research by  NewsGuard  has revealed that the latest version of OpenAI’s video creation tool Sora 2 can be prompted to advance false or misleading information 80% of the time. NewsGuard, which rates the credibility of news and information websites, maintained that its findings demonstrate the ease with which bad actors can weaponise the powerful new technology to spread false information at scale. Five of the 20 false claims Sora generated originated with Russian disinformation operations, it added. The researchers noted that within minutes of accessing Sora 2 they had it producing false or misleading videos related to major news, including videos showing a Moldovan election official destroying pro-Russian ballots, a toddler detained by U.S. immigration officers, and a Coca-Cola spokesperson announcing that the company would not sponsor the Super Bowl because of Bad Bunny ’s selection as the halftime headline act. NewsGuard also asserted that its findings demonstrate ho...

Open-source AI video from Lightricks offers 4K, sound, and faster rendering

Image
Lighttrick  is upping the ante for rapid video creation and iteration with its latest artificial intelligence model. The company claims its newly released LTX-2 foundation model can generate new content faster than playback speed, plus it raises the bar in resolution and quality. The open-source LTX-2 can generate a stylised, high-definition, six-second video in just five seconds without any compromise in quality, enabling creators to pump out professional content much faster than previously. It’s an impressive achievement, but it’s not the only parameter that sets LTX-2 apart from others. It combines native audio and video synthesis with open-source transparency, and if users are willing to wait just a few seconds longer, they can enhance their outputs to 4K resolution at up to 48 frames per second, the company says. Even better, creators can run the software on consumer-grade GPUs , dramatically reducing their compute costs. Diffusion models come of age LTX-2 is what’s known as ...
